Tiny worlds, made with love
Every Mini Mason jar scene starts with a spark of imagination and ends with a pair of careful hands. Here's the story behind it all.
How it all began
It started about 20 years ago. It started with the mason jars. I began collecting the antique jars in multiple sizes, with the zinc tops. I had accumulated hundreds of jars and not exactly sure what my plan was. I remember as a child, my mother display her rather large Christmas village. It was beautiful. I used to just sit there and stare at it for hours. As I looked more the jars, I thought of my mother's village and thought, what if I condense in a jar? That's how it started and then progressed into so much more.
Friends and family started asking for their own. Then strangers. Before long, The Mini Mason was born — a small studio dedicated to handcrafting miniature scenes that tell a story in the space of a single jar.
Each piece is made one at a time, by hand, with materials sourced for their texture, color, and character. No two jars are exactly alike, and that's exactly the point.
How each jar is made
Gather & source
Every scene starts with materials — preserved moss, snow matting, miniature figurines, animals, and hand-selected stones. Each element is chosen for how it will feel inside the jar.
Design the scene
Before anything goes in the jar, the scene is sketched out. Depth, balance, and storytelling all matter — a good jar has a foreground, a middle, and a sense of wonder.
Build by hand
Layer by layer, the scene comes together. groundcover is pressed into place, figurines and accessories are positioned, and tiny details are added with tweezers and patience.
Seal & finish
Once the scene is complete, the jar. checked for stability, balance, and that little moment of magic before it ships.
What we believe in
Slow craft
I don't rush. Every jar takes the time it needs, and that care shows in the finished piece.
Natural materials
I use preserved botanicals, natural stones, and sustainably sourced elements wherever possible.
Made to last
These aren't trinkets. With a little care, a Mini Mason jar will hold its scene for years.
